“It’s easy to forget the wonder and disbelief you felt when you first walked into one; easy to forget what a revolution it was. Because in its wake everything changed. Long-held beliefs shattered overnight, existing category norms abandoned without a fight. When Steve Jobs asked us to imagine a new type of destination for customers, we created a concept that would change the retail landscape forever. We created the Apple Store.” Tim Kobe.

Eight Inc are most famous for, and most rightly proud of their work for Apple. Founder Tim Kobe and his team helped build the world’s most profitable retail proposition. This combination of high end conceptual design, which focused on beautiful simplicity and game changing service, has transformed the retail landscape forever.

Founded in 1989, Eight Inc has more than 90 designers in eight studios across the USA, Europe and Asia.

They call themselves ‘Experience Designers’ and they apply a solid intellectual framework to everything they do.

They have a strong portfolio of award winning work for clients such as Nike, Virgin Atlantic, Citibank and Tesla.

Our two favourite projects are based out in Asia.

The Shimano Cycling World Experience in Singapore is a lovely piece of brand storytelling.

And the Gen 3 concept for Globe Telecom has to rate as one of the best looking mobile stores in the world.

More recently their concept for Nissan in Tokyo, is a sculptural delight. The two story showcase located in the beautiful Ginza building, brings back some of the glamour and excitement, which seems to have been reserved for the international motor shows in recent years.

Just launched is there concept for Airtel, which is being rolled out across their huge estate of over 2,500 stores in India. The pared back concept uses simple graphic messaging which poses everyday questions, encouraging dialogue between customers and staff, simultaneously technology is used to communicate their offer, allowing customers to interact and engage with the brand.

With a team of over 170, residing in 12 studios around the world Eight Inc are truly global, but if you want to get in touch, you can either speak to Matt Judge or Alexandra Almaral at the London Studio. They’re both very nice!
