21 Spaces is headed up by John-Henry Boyle, who founded the consultancy in 2002. Specialising in the retail and hospitality sectors, 21 Spaces work with a varied client list that includes hotels, restaurant, sports and leisure facilities, cafés and sports retailers.

The consultancy has worked with the heritage Irish brand Butlers Chocolate, designing their cafés for a number of locations across Ireland as well as further afield in New Zealand, Pakistan and Riyadh. Whether designing concepts for historic buildings, white boxes or kiosks in stations and airports, they manage to create an authentic, warm golden glow, that suggests comfort and indulgence, drawing customers visit.

Their concept for Life Style Sports flagship store in Cork, rivals any of the international concepts from Nike and Adidas. The 20,000 sq.ft. store spans two floors and delivers an energetic and engaging atmosphere through lots of interactive and immersive features including simulators, personalisation experiences and digital product displays alongside dynamic VM. The interior is also punctuated with vibrant graphics and an inspirational tone of voice, that targets audiences from the serious sportsman to leisure wearers with a passion for sneaker culture.

In their concept for Chipmongers, the new fish and chip offer from Musgraves, they have managed to retail the local feel of the ‘chippy’ through a contemporised interior and playful graphic ‘banter’. In another project for Musgraves, they added an inviting deli ambience to the sub-branded take-away food offer ‘Munch & Co’ within the Daybreak convenience stores.

The Alex Hotel and Steam Café shows another facet to their talents. Located in the heart of Georgian Dublin, the consultancy was commissioned to help transform one of the city’s most established hotels into a contemporary four-star establishment. Designing every element from the carpets to furniture and every aspect of the interior architecture, they have created calm, elegant spaces with a distinctive identity that sets the hotel apart.

Whether designing sporting emporiums, local stores or four-star hotels, 21 Spaces are adept at crafting thoughtful and attractive spaces appropriate for their audience.
