Swedish-inspired, Aussie-based purveyor of stationery kikki.K has landed in London with a resounding, well-organised ‘Hej!’
Heralding the arrival of a new permanent store on James Street, its Hej London! pop-up on Opera House Parade is a mini museum-meets-shop that blends brand storytelling with chic Scandinavian minimalism.
We also think it is a great example of where the pop up is actually better than the permanent! (although the James Street store has now been refurbished)
London-based design agency Dalziel & Pow has crafted a stylishly minimalist entry for Scandinavian-inspired stationery brand kikki.K.
A bold window display featuring a white forest of oversized branded pencils and inviting signage welcomes customers into an orderly, neutral-toned interior that invites tactile exploration.
Diaries, planners, notebooks and homewares arranged by colour, line the walls, while sculptures and displays crafted from the brand’s most beloved product lines stretch out like three dimensional still life art.
Whitewashed wood, understated tones and crisp lines allow the products to shine in their own pastel-toned right – helped along by descriptive moodboards highlighting the inspiration behind the collections.
A central display featuring the brand’s iconic kikki.K 365 Day Journal deconstructed as though caught in a gusting wind draws the eye, while some two thousand white pencils pinned to the pegboard rear wall spell out the brand purpose: ‘Dream. Do. Enjoy. Share.’
Just around the corner and almost simultaneously launched, the kikki.K James Street store will take things a step further, embracing the brand’s new kikki.K “Studio” concept.
The new concept recently debuted across the brand’s stores in Australia and New Zealand, and emphasises hands-on workshops, events and product demos.
A visit is well worth jotting down in your planner – and if you don’t have one, you know just where to pick one up.
