Sonos has built a reputation for its minimalist approach to music. The speakers it’s known for are refined and understated – but deliver an impressive audio punch.

The brand’s recently opened New York retail store shares the same attributes. Just like its products, it’s all about the music.

This tribute to the artform is evident throughout. An airy showroom features orderly product displays wrapping the walls in a way that resemble acoustic panelling. The motif is extended by a ceiling that wouldn’t be out of place in a record studio. Music-themed artwork and objects abound, rewarding the attentive visitor.

Partners & Spade have crafted a setting for Sonos that’ll make music lovers sit up and listen. They have history of creating amazing spaces for new retail brands, since they designed Warby Parker’s stores.

The open-plan setting provides an eye-catching context for the space’s key offering: a series of six soundproofed listening rooms shaped like miniature houses and internally styled after different living, and listening, scenarios.

Carefully crafted to ensure optimum sound quality, they showcase the brand’s products from a performance perspective, while also demonstrating the seamless aesthetic appeal of a Sonos set-up– one that looks just as good in a Herman Miller-outfitted retro abode as it does a restrained Scandinavian one.

Customers are encouraged to step in and load up their choice of tunes from one of several streaming services and kick back in the custom-designed furniture. When they’re done, they can head downstairs for more listening delights, with a vast lounge presided over by a wall-length installation of 297 Sonos speakers.

If you’re an audiophile, everything about this store will be music to your ears.
