Urban Outfitters has come to Williamsburg with a cracking new ‘Anti Big’ concept called ‘Space Ninety 8’.

It’s a sister store to the Space 15 Twenty that launched in Los Angeles in 2008 – except this time it’s all about ‘Locally Made’.

This huge, converted warehouse is classic Urban Outfitters, with unique design and built in pop up spaces.

Set over four floors, there’s an Adidas Orginals in the basement and a top floor restaurant and roof terrace called The Gorbals. This is a concept from Top Chef Winner Ilan Hall, who has brought his LA Gastropub to the Big Apple.

As part of the Market Space, the Local Made pop up space showcases 44 artists and designers from the Brooklyn area, specially curated by Marissa Maximo, Urban Outfitters’ Director of Brand Relations. Each brand has created products exclusive to Space Ninety 8.

The first floor is given over to Urban Renewal and two ‘permanent’ pop up areas – for the launch, Brooklyn based Salt Surf recreated a Californian surfer’s garage sitting room.

The design is packed with tons of quirky features, with wonderful visual merchandising that is pure Art Still Life. The tone of voice is funny and packed with stories and weird cameos.

Totally on trend and very charming. If you would like to see more of the store a full case study is in our latest Need to Know More.
